This story is in response to Neelloc12's challenge On Fanfiction but I thouhgt I would put it here too.
Sara walked from the kitchen with two large glasses of ice tea.
Sitting on the porch swing was her husband, sitting next to him was their 4 year old daughter, Cassandra.
Kitten was holding a cassette player and swinging back and forth to the tune she was singing.
This old man
He played 1
He played knick knack on my thumb
with a knick knack patty wack give a dog a bone
this old man came rolling home!
Gil smiled as the little girl sang, how could life be any better, he had his beautiful Sara as his wife.
4 years ago he was blessed with his little girl, a perfect carbon copy of his beloved wife and soon they would have a son.
Sara walked over to him and kissed him, ?Thought you might like this.?
Kitten stopped singing and held her hands up, ?Up Mommy.?
Sara sat next to then, Kitten snuggled next to her.
?Why can?t you pick me up? How come you are getting so fat?? Kitten asked.
Gil smiled, ?Daddy told you sweetheart, Mommy is going to have another baby.?
?OH yeah,? Kitten said laying her head on Sara?s belly, ?Hi baby.?
The baby moved, ?Hey you stop that.?
Sara lay a napkin on her belly, it seemed that everything landed there, the baby moved and knocked the napkin off Sara?s stomach.
?Holy Cow, would you look at that", Kitten said, ?Bug is moving around inside Mommy?s tummy.?
?Holy Cow,? Gil said, ?Where did she hear that expression from??
?Uncle Jim,? Kitten said, ?He says it all the time.?
Gil laughed. ?Sing Momma your song Kitten,? Daddy will be right back.?
Cassandra turned on the tape player and started singing again.
Gil came back with his hands behind his back, he smiled as he saw the little girl dancing as Sara clapped.
Gil walked up to Sara and handed her a beautiful red rose, it was clear that it came from their garden.
?You are in trouble,? Sara said. ?Yeah, Daddy, you know Mommy says NO ONE TOUCH,? Kitten said.
Gil smiled, ?I couldn?t help myself, the garden gnome made me do it.?
Sara smiled, ?It is lovely, let me but it in water.?
Sara was about in the kitchen when see seen a car pull up, she looked out to see Ecklie getting out from behind the wheel.
?Grissom,? he yelled as he opened the trunk.
Quickly Sara went to him. ?SHHH!? she said putting her finger to her lips, ?He is not to know.?
?Oh, sorry,? he said, ?I about blew the surprise.?
Sara smiled and took the package from him.
?That is why I had it sent to the lab,? she said, ?Thank you for running it over.?
Conrad was curious about the package, ?I take it it is for Fathers Day??
?Yes,? Sara said. ?I will scram,? he said.
?Thanks again,? Sara said.
She had worried that the gift would not make it on time, she did not have a lot of faith in things ordered on line.
Sara called Kitten, ?Yes Momma,? she said.
?It is time to give Daddy his gifts,? she said.
Kitten smiled as she walked up to her father.
?Happy Father?s Day,? Kitten said handing him the box that Ecklie had just delivered.
Gil opened the box, inside it was a framed Red Spotted Purple Butterfly.
It is one of the rarer ones and one Gil had been trying to find.
?Thank you,? he said hugging his daughter. Kitten grinned from ear to ear.
Sara smiled, ?I have another one for you.?
?What would that be?? he asked. Sara told him she had been having contractions all day and it was time to go.
Gil dropped Kitten off at Nick?s and took Sara to the hospital.
2 hours later Gil stood by Sara?s side as she nursed there son.
Nick brought Kitten in, Gil took his daughter. She leaned down and kissed her baby brothers head, ?Hello Michael.?
Gil smiled, what a perfect Fathers Day surprise.
