I am new to this but waned to try a short story. Any suggestions and comments will be welcome.
Sara walked past Gil?s office, a trash can came flying out the door, it missed her by an inch.
?Do you mind telling me what that was all about?? she asked taking the can back into his office.
He looked at her, ?Sorry. It is just this case, everything is a dead end.?
She walked over to him, ?May I?? she asked picking up a few of his notes.
?Help yourself,? he said. ?I am going out side and cool off a little,? he said walking out his office.
Sara mumbled OK as he left, she sat down and read over the case files. Something hit her strange about the test results.
?That?s not right,? she said to herself, ?I ran that one my self.?
Sara went to the evidence locker and checked out the box, she reran the test.
?I thought so,? she said.
She picked up her phone, ?Grissom meet me in trace.?
A little later he walked in the door, ?What??
She handed him a paper. ?So,? he said.
She handed him another one, he looked at it, ?This is way off of the one in the folder,? he said.
?This one,? she said pointing to the one in his hand, ?is the one that I ran the day you brought it in.?
?If you add this and this,? he said shuffling papers.
?Then it puts Nolen not only in town but at the scene of the crime,? she added.
?But how did this one get in MY folder?? he wondered.
?This one is from Nick?s B&E,? she said.
?Floyd, that new guy in trace ran that one the same time I ran this one.?
?I got that emergency call and asked him to make sure you got it,? she added. Floyd walked by, Gil called him in.
After some questioning Floyd admitted he dropped the papers, ?I must have gotten them mixed up.?
Gil was mad. He was about to fly off the handle, say something he should not have, Sara put her hand on his shoulder.
?If that happens again,? she said to Floyd, ?Make sure you get the right papers to the right case. It could be life or death.?
?Yes Mrs. Grissom,? he said walking away.
MRS. GRISSOM. She was still getting used to it, it made her smile.
?Thank you Mrs. Grissom,? Gil said kissing her cheek.
She smiled at him, ?And I thought it was the expectant mother who had mood swings, not the expectant father??
He touched her belly then he looked at her.
?Thank you,? he said. Sara looked at him. ?For marrying me, for loving me and for this little lady.?
