Long time, no post. Sorry to anyone who is reading the story. New job, shoulder surgery and a variety of other issues kind of got in the way. Plus, writers block SEVERE. This is just a quick, quick short update and more to come. Please let me know if you are reading or not. Wont be on fanfic.net for awhile until I get more of this chapter completeSara opened the refrigerator, staring in at what little remnants of food she kept inside. Nothing really appealed to her but the bottle of long-ago forgotten Heineken seemed to call out to her from the back of the top shelf. She paused, staring at it before closing the door.
Maybe, she thought, she would just order in. Something dangerous and spicy and maybe a little bit unhealthy. Pizza came to mind?or Thai food?or maybe even both?
She nodded to herself. If she couldn?t drink away the misery she felt, she may as well try and eat it away right?
As she reached for her phone it began to ring and she sighed, hoping beyond hope that work was not calling her in. She really wanted a night off to just be irresponsible
?Sidle? She said into the receiver, opening her refrigerator again
?Pizza, burgers or tacos? Greg?s voice came over the line, sounding as bouncy and care-free as it always seemed to
?What??
?Pizza?burgers?or tacos? he repeated slowly ?It?s a fairly simple question?
?Are you asking me what you should have for dinner? Are you at the mall again?? She grabbed the bottle of Heineken and swung the door closed
?Well, technically yes? he replied happily ?On the first part?but definitely no on the second part. I thought that maybe since we were both off for the night, I?d bring by fattening junk food and we could watch a movie?.unless you?d rather not?
She smiled to herself, amazed at how Greg always seemed to know exactly what she was thinking. ?Pizza then? She replied as she plopped on the couch to take a drink off the bottle ?I don?t know why you?d even consider burgers?but you should pick up something with red curry on your way over here?
?Curry??
?Yes? She took another drink ?The spicier the better?.and pick up a case of Heineken?
?Wow?? he replied with a laugh ?You are feeling dangerous?

?You know, Grissom started that whole ?Hank the Skank? thing? Greg said. They sat on the roof of her apartment building, a cooler of beer between them as they watched the lights of Las Vegas in the valley below
She looked at him with a slight laugh ?What??
?Yeah,? He replied with a swallow of beer ?Probably shouldn?t tell you this, though??
?Oh, no?? She shook her head ?You can?t just blurt that out and not finish the story?
He smiled at her ?Okay?? He sat up on the blanket he was on ?So, you remember when you had to come into town for that DB at the high school?? When she nodded he continued ?Well, Grissom was trying to call you?a lot?and he was getting kind of pissed. Which is weird, you know, cause the guy never gets pissed about anything?anyway, it was like the 5th time he tried to call you and I don?t think he realized that we could hear him and when he hung up he was really pissed and muttered something about you being out with ?Hank the Skank??it just kind of stuck?
?Grissom said that?? She gushed a little too eagerly. ?Why didn?t you ever tell me this?? She was suddenly very thankful for the darkness of the night, hiding the crimson color of her cheeks.
?Uh?okay?? He said defensively. ?Because number one, Grissom would probably fire me and number two because I knew you?d freak out?
?I am not freaking out? She said, trying to hide her excited tone
?Say what you will but if it weren?t dark out your face would be bright red right now?
She was quiet, after all, he was right. ?You?re making this up?
?No way? He said, another swig of the beer going down his throat. ?Personally,
I think he was jealous. I mean, it?s no secret that he?s got a crush on you?
She choked out her beer and he laughed, reaching over to pound her on the back. ?I don?t think men Grissom?s age have crushes?? She choked out
?Oh, I dunno?? He chimed, waiting for a moment before continuing ?Admit it, you kind of like him too?
She was quiet, wishing suddenly that she could change the subject ?He?s my boss, Greg? She said with an order of dismission
He nodded ?So, spill the beans, Sidle? He put his empty beer bottle back in the cooler ?Everyone knows that you two knew each other in San Francisco. But what I want to know is exactly how
well you knew each other??
She cleared her throat, setting her own beer down next to her ?That?s just wrong, Greg?
?Oh, come on!? He goaded ?There had to be something. He?s pretty much speechless whenever you?re around?that doesn?t happen from just being ?acquaintances?? He made a quote gesture in the air with his fingers
?Sorry, Greggo? She replied, trying to sound bored. She lay down on her blanket, putting her hands behind her head as she stared up at the sky ?But if you?re looking for a sad story about a San Francisco romance, you?ve got the wrong couple?
She closed her eyes, hoping he?d fall for her plight of sleepiness. She heard him lie down as well and relaxed, feeling the edge of sleep pull at her as she thought about the life she?d had in San Francisco and the man she had thought she?d spend her life with
As she fell asleep, she realized that it really was a very, very sad story
